"Waves and Patterns" by Rua Puka
FOSS4G conference logos are designed and voted on by the community. This year’s logo was submitted by Rua Pula. In Rua’s words:

I’m Rua Puka, a GIS Specialist based in Papua New Guinea, working in the East and West Sepik Provinces
through the EU-funded STREIT Programme. My work focuses on using mapping and spatial data to support
rural development.
Spearhead Shape – Symbolizes leadership, protection, and cultural strength across the Pacific.
Sailboat (Canoe Motif) – Reflects ancestral navigation and the knowledge-sharing nature of the FOSS4G community.
Cultural Patterns – Inspired by Pacific tapa, tattoos, and carvings—telling stories of identity and place.
Circular Whorls – Represent connection, continuity, and the open-source ecosystem
The logo design was inspired by the Pacific’s rich cultural and natural landscapes, with the blue colour scheme reflecting both the ocean that connects our region and the open, inclusive nature of the FOSS4G community.
